Much Jade still remains at these claims, some in situ. No stripping was ever done, only surface nodules were ever recovered. Many large serpentine boulders were left on these old claims. Geology - The Nephrite Jade is a calcium-iron magnesium silicate, Ca (Mg Fe)3 (Si O3)4. It consists predominately of volcanic tuffs, siltstones, and sandstones. Tuffs contain quartz, oligoclase biotite, horn blends, iron oxide, and rarely olivine, Nephrite Jade, slate, shale, actinolite, garnet, and jasper are found in serpentine rich terrain. Intrusive granites are found in several areas, along with jasper outcrops, and some hydrothermal blow outs. |
