The Iguana is a very famous rich silver mine. It is located about 150 miles south of Eagle Pass, TX in the state of Nuevo Leon, Mexico. The Iguana was discovered by the Spanish in 1756 and got its name from the shape of the huge vein of silver. The mine changed the region forever and the town San Antonio was formed to support the mine.

At its peak the town had about 3000 residents and 1500 or so worked at the mine. The mine was worked about 3 years and averaged 1.2kg per ton silver. Soon afterwards an ownership dispute clouded the mine and the town of San Antonio was destroyed by fire. The governors at the time decided to move on to newly discovered mines. The book, "The thousand days of San Antonio de la Iguana" descibes the flash in the pan history of San Antonio and the Iguana mine.

The owner's grandfather was a mining engineer and aquired ownership of the mine. He worked it briefly until about 1970 when he had to tend to his gravely ill wife. Although no records exist to affirm this, the grandfather claimed to be averaging 800 grams of silver per ton.

Existing claims are for silver, gold, copper, zinc and lead. The calim covers 50 acres and more acreage is available. All fees have been paid from 1970 to date and the mine hasn't been worked since.

The owner will sell outright for $700,000 USD or is offerring a 45% joint venture for only $150,000, to cover start up costs. All terms and conditions are negotiable.
